Impact - Milestones

ZeroNorth is your partner in decarbonisation. Through our products and our multitude of partnerships, we are driving positive change in the shipping industry. Explore our achievements and milestones below.

Vessel Emissions Reporting Standard

ZeroNorth contributes to Vessel Emissions Reporting Standard released by Energy LEAP to meet existing regulatory requirements. The Energy LEAP standard released for consultation is aimed at defining emissions to be collected on a daily basis in order to meet regulatory and voluntary reporting requirements. The new open standard is the culmination of eight months of consultation and collaboration with ship owners, charterers, energy majors, association bodies and software vendors, and sets out to enable emissions reporting required by law, supporting decarbonisation and regulatory compliance.

Partnership with MMMCZCS and GMF

ZeroNorth is now partnering with the Global Maritime Forum and is a Mission Ambassador for Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller Center for Zero Carbon Shipping.

These partnerships highlight ZeroNorth’s role as an active and collaborative organisation that is committed to working together with wider industry stakeholders to reduce barriers to immediate emission reductions.

ZeroNorth has saved 1,500,000 tonnes of CO2 to date

The ZeroNorth platform continues to demonstrate its positive impact by preventing 1,500,000 tonnes of CO2 from being emitted from customer vessels. We share this data as a call-to-action for the wider shipping industry to use deep data calculations to quantify environmental impact.

Our platform works by optimising organisations’ daily operational needs, unlocking efficiencies that benefit both profit and planet. Optimisation and efficiencies like those generated by the ZeroNorth platform can contribute up to 20% of the overall reductions needed to reach net zero emissions and will be integral in helping organisations remain profitable as they prepare for a dynamic, greener future.

Vessel Reporting and Data Quality White Paper

As the industry becomes more data-centric and the need for useful and complete data to enable optimisations intensifies, this white paper explores the need for an industry standard for vessel reporting which will benefit the commercial performance of vessels, inform decision-making in line with sustainability goals, and generate better outcomes for the entire marine value chain.

Fuel consumption model accuracy standard

In an effort to solve a longstanding industry challenge central to driving shipping’s decarbonisation pathway, ZeroNorth has come together with key industry leaders to formulate an industry-wide methodology for fuel consumption model benchmarking.

Together the roundtable workshops with eleven participating companies - spanning ship owners, operators and managers, fuel consumption model providers and voyage optimisation software companies including Cargill, Ultrabulk A/S, PropulsionDynamic, Western Bulk , Bearing and Maersk Tankers Tankers - formulated a benchmark to assess fuel consumption model accuracy and positively impact voyage optimisation as a result.

The road to net zero may be paved with good intentions, but we have a shared responsibility to match that ambition with action. By forging partnerships, the shipping industry can work together to find solutions to the challenges holding back decarbonisation and collaborate on initiatives that will accelerate the green transition.
