Søren Andersen’s first day as CEO

“It feels like coming home,” says Søren Andersen on his first day as CEO of ZeroNorth.
For Søren, in many ways this is a return. Back to the Maersk ecosystem where he spent 15 years; back to the work of reducing fuel consumption, where he helped shape some of the industry’s earliest large-scale fuel-saving programmes; and back to leading a maritime software business – work he knows from his time as CEO of StormGeo.
Søren takes the helm at ZeroNorth at a time when technology plays a critical role in helping the shipping industry navigate continued geopolitical uncertainty, volatility and the complexities of the energy transition. Regulation remains firmly on the agenda, while commercial pressure and operational demands are constant factors for shipowners and operators. In this environment, technology turns complexity into dependable operational decisions that protect earnings, support compliance and maintain competitiveness.
Since its founding, ZeroNorth has grown into one of the industry’s leading digital partners.Today, the platform supports around 6,000 vessels globally, powered by a team of 550 people across six locations. Together, they have helped shape a new market for digital voyage and emissions optimisation.
Søren sees strong potential in that foundation – and in what comes next: the next wave of innovation. ZeroNorth is uniquely positioned to enable AI transformation in shipping and enhance decision-making across the maritime value chain.
Sustained execution and continued innovation, in his view, go hand in hand. That is how ZeroNorth will support customers – and continue to grow as a trusted partner to the industry.
Leadership and first priorities
Søren’s leadership philosophy centres on teams. “This is not a game of individuals,” he says. “This is a game of teams.” He values psychological safety and clear ownership – and is direct about accountability. Decisions should be made close to where value is created, with teams empowered to act.
In his first months, he will engage closely with ZeroNorth’s people and customers to understand the organisation’s strengths – focusing on empowering the entire ZeroNorth team, ensuring clarity as the company delivers on its 2026 strategy, and continuing to deliver value to customers.
Confidence for the future
Søren is energised by what lies ahead – and by the role ZeroNorth can play in shaping the future of maritime software.
“There’s a huge opportunity for ZeroNorth to create the AI that will redefine shipping operations,” he says. “We are in a strong position to lead that transformation – grounded in real operations and trusted data. In this transformation, it becomes even more important that we continue to build confidence and trust. ZeroNorth will demonstrate that it is a solid, dependable partner to customers - the partner they choose for the future.”
