Vessel Emissions Reporting Standard Dry-Bulk Scope

Take action

We are pleased to announce that ZeroNorth is partnering with Energy LEAP to further define vessel emissions reporting standards.

ZeroNorth and the Impact Today network have worked in partnership with Energy LEAP since November 2022, working towards defining a standard which enables the full range of emissions reporting requirements. An initial working group has delivered a standard for the tanker and LNG scope, with plans for validation and adoption in the new year.

Moving into 2024, we will be progressing work-streams to validate the standard against the needs of other vessel classes, including dry-bulk. ZeroNorth's Chief Purpose Activist, Lora Jakobsen, has been named chair of this working group on behalf of Energy LEAP.

We will work collectively with industry leaders to adjust the Vessel Emissions Reporting Standard to consider the Dry-Bulk sector emissions reporting needs. The group will first meet in 2024, more information will be shared with those who fill in the form. We hope you’ll make an impact with us today.

Energy LEAP

Energy LEAP and its members play an important role in driving operational efficiency across the supply and energy industry. They facilitate partnerships between people and companies who have shared challenges, helping them work together to drive efficiencies and save money by standardising the way they work.

Working together in close collaboration with ship owners, charterers, oil majors, association bodies, and software vendors, Energy LEAP sees a broad opportunity for the digital exchange of information across several aspects of Shipping Operations, delivering a range of benefits beyond just administrative efficiency.

The publication of the Vessel Emissions Reporting Standard, VERS 1.0, is a first step to defining a standard which enables the full current range of emissions reporting requirements.
