ZeroNorth marks third anniversary with 300% annual growth for the second consecutive year

Third year milestone coincides with quadrupled ARR annually since 2021, cementing company’s position as technology leaders

Copenhagen, Denmark, 20 June 2023: Technology company ZeroNorth is today marking its three-year anniversary with the announcement that it has achieved 300% annual growth two years in a row, quadrupling its ARR each year since 2021.

ZeroNorth began as a startup in 2020 with a single product, Optimise, which focussed on voyage speed optimisation. The company has since added 7 more services to create a full platform, including a full weather routing service to help plan ship routes around weather forecasts, an AI-enabled fuel model, emissions reporting capabilities, charter optimisation, enhanced analytics, a vessel performance offering and a full suite of services around bunkering processes.

Through its platform, ZeroNorth boosts workflows to unlock the full potential of every vessel, voyage and fleet. ZeroNorth’s connected platform can reduce fuel consumption via speed, route and weather optimisation, and reduce and monitor emissions to support sustainability goals.

The ZeroNorth platform enables companies to generate immediate emissions reduction impact and enhances collaboration, as stakeholders across different departments have access to a shared reality. From here, they can make more informed decisions that reduce CO2 emissions and boost earnings. In 2022, ZeroNorth helped stop 443,780 tonnes of emissions from entering the atmosphere, demonstrating tangible impact on the road to greener shipping.

ZeroNorth is also an active and collaborative organisation, reaching out across industry segments and competitive boundaries in the last three years to reduce barriers to immediate emission reductions. This includes participation in industry organisations, its own Impact Today working group and partnerships with Energy LEAP, the Global Maritime Forum and Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller Center for Zero Carbon Shipping. Through these collaborations, ZeroNorth is championing standardisation, connecting thought leaders and advocating for policies that positively impact the green transition.

In the past three years, ZeroNorth has helped to accelerate the digitalisation of shipping, with its platform providing a single source of truth for shipping companies to address the challenges of today’s shipping environment and lay the foundations for success tomorrow. ZeroNorth has also made a number of acquisitions in the bunkering market to digitalise planning, procurement and analytics in the space.

Reflecting on the last three years, Søren Meyer, CEO, ZeroNorth commented: “The ZeroNorth team has done a remarkable job over the past three years of executing our shared vision to enable green global trade. It’s rewarding to see the impact we have had on driving the green transition, both for our customers through the ZeroNorth platform and through championing industry collaboration and partnerships.

“We believe our rate of growth and the impact we’re having is a testament to the talent and dedication of our team. Our quadrupled ARR each year over the last two years and ability to grow our employee base from six to 240 people further exemplifies the confidence from shipowners, charterers and the wider marine value chain in ZeroNorth’s solutions, and our ability to ensure tangible profit and sustainability impact through our platform.

“It also reflects the collaborative trust that our customers are placing in us to drive true impact. Decarbonising the maritime industry is complex, with multiple factors for shipowners, operators and charterers to consider. We are dedicated to helping them navigate the difficult journey ahead and to driving operational efficiencies that can significantly benefit both profit and planet.”
