DevOps Engineer

Come grow with us in our dynamic, innovative technology start-up!

ZeroNorth was founded to change the shipping industry. Born out of Maersk Tankers, we are provided with a strong foundation to build upon. Through digitalization, we strive to help our customers optimize their business while reducing CO2 emissions. This is what empowers us.

Our tools are algorithms and data modeling that rapidly digitize the traditional shipping industry. Our traction is great, and now we are looking for an experienced DevOps to come and join our growing start-up.

Working with a highly collaborative team of designers, engineers, data scientists and product owners, you will help us grow the DevOps culture across the team.

Your contribution to our development and day-to-day operation of our application and infrastructure is crucial. You will help form our processes and tools to support delivery of new features faster and with a higher quality, as well as expand and optimize our scalable platform and challenge our technology choices, working towards simplifying and automating our infrastructure.

You will be working closely with other DevOps Engineers as well as supporting our software engineering teams, which are small, flexible and employ agile methodologies to quickly deliver the solutions we need, by ensuring quality of the products we put in front of our customers - either as prototypes, MVPs or fully-fledged product offerings.

In short, we are looking for an experienced DevOps Engineer, who takes responsibility for our infrastructure, automating repetitive tasks, keeping systems running smoothly through the deployment process, and participate actively in optimizing our ways of working.

You will report to our CTO.

We imagine that you have a master’s in Computer Science or equivalent, and 5+ years of experience in a similar role. You will bring in-depth knowledge of DevOps principles and a great passion for bringing development, operation, security and business closer together.

Further you have a solid track record in software development lifecycle management and you value collaboration. You are an empathetic and a proactive driver in finding the right solutions and directions for ZeroNorth.

Your communication skills are excellent, and you are genuinely interested in helping other people succeed. You are well-organized, innovative, speaks your mind and can determine independently what needs to be done.

Our tech stack is based on Docker and Kubernetes, and you are well versed in both, as well as using configuration management tools – e.g. Ansible. Most of our development is done in Python and React, and you are well versed in service-based architecture and can aid and advice in how we best deploy and run our services.

You are proficient in scripting and consider the shell to be by far the superior UI.

You are experienced with CI/CD pipelines and can help the teams taking ownership and responsibility for deploying their own code/services by creating the foundation for them.

You have experience with Public Cloud and their services e.g. AWS, GCP or Azure. Our SaaS platform is currently hosted on Azure, but we find other providers attractive also. Most likely you have been working in an agile setup, and you have a willingness to both challenge the status quo, as well as be challenged yourself.

In short, you are an experienced DevOps engineer; the type who prefers to configure a self-healing infrastructure in the daytime and sleep through the night, rather than get alarms at 3am.

We work with complex problems and we strive to be leaders, driving the whole industry towards smarter and more CO2 friendly solutions, by enabling data driven decisions. We value trust and learning, and we work closely together to build groundbreaking experiences for our customers.

We are ambitious and passionate with a strong “Can Do” attitude. We work in a dynamic and informal space with everything that you could dream of; access to fitness, table tennis, food, games, fantastic coffee and amazing people. We love what we do - creating apps and services that help scale and optimize everyday challenges. While doing this, we save costs and provide a serious reduction worldwide in CO2 emissions.
